There’s no denying that a car looks its best when it’s freshly clean. However, regular car washes are sometimes costly, so we have a few Ford service tips to help you wash your car at home and keep it looking great at a fraction of the cost.

1. Be Prepared

You don’t want to start washing your car without having everything you need. It’s best to have all of your cleaning products and tools ready to go before you start washing.

There are a few must-have items you need when washing your car, like water, sponges, and maybe even a hose. However, you can also invest in other items for added convenience:

  • Special hose nozzle
  • Buckets (one for soap mixture, one for rinsing)
  • Car wash soap
  • Car wash mitt and drying towels
  • Window cleaner
  • Small vacuum

2. Go the Extra Mile

There are so many extra steps you can take to give your car the shine you’re looking for. For example, an exterior detailer is ideal when you just want an easy spray-on, wipe-off clean.

car wax is another great way to keep your car clean and shiny for weeks on end. Car waxes give your vehicle a polished look and protect your exterior paint.

3. Don’t Skip the Interior

We understand that you want your car to look nice on the road. However, why not create a clean haven inside as well?

First, empty your car of trash, food, toys, or anything else that you don’t use regularly. Remove the floor mats and shake them out to get rid of dirt or crumbs. Vacuum or rinse your seats, depending on their material.

You can also use car wipes to clean your dash, steering wheel, and more. Cotton swabs and toothbrushes are great for getting into crevices.
