First, try to get off the road or away from traffic. Find a secure place to park on even ground, like a parking lot or a gas station.

Changing the Tire

Start by loosening the lug nuts on your tire without completely removing them. Once the lug nuts are loose, jack your car up completely off the ground. The tire should be able to spin around unobstructed.

Once your car is lifted off the ground, remove the lug nuts and your whole tire completely. Fasten your spare tire on with your lug nuts, but do not completely tighten them. Once you carefully lower your tire to the ground, then you can secure your spare tightly with the lug nuts.
