2020 Ford F-250 in Georgetown, TX
The Ford F-250 is more powerful and capable than ever. The 2020 model received some enhancements, including an updated exterior look, new hardware, a new 7.3-liter V-8 gas engine, and an upgraded version of the 6.7-liter V-8 diesel. The F-250 lineup also received a new 10-speed automatic transmission, more driver and connectivity assist systems for trailering, and updated interior details. Here is a look at the newly updated 2020 Ford F-250.
Trim Levels
Like most pickup trucks, the F-250 comes in a number of different configurations. The base trim is the XL, which has 17-inch steel wheels. The XLT comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, and power mirrors. Step up to the Lariat to add LED box lighting and 18-inch alloy wheels, or upgrade to the King Ranch for a remote tailgate release, LED headlights, and LED taillights. The Raptor is the off-road model and comes with 35-inch all-terrain tires, skid plates, tow hooks, running boards, and LED lights in the grille. The Platinum is the luxury F-250. This model has power running boards, 20-inch wheels, and some upgraded exterior trim elements, while the Limited has 22-inch wheels and all the features of the lower trims.
Engine
The base engine for the F-250 is a 6.2-liter V-8 with 385 horsepower that works with a six-speed automatic transmission. The new 7.3-liter V-8 gas engine will generate 430 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque, and the diesel engine in the lineup is a turbo V-8 with 475 horsepower and 1,050 pound-feet of torque. The new 7.3-liter and the diesel both work with the new 10-speed automatic transmission and both come standard with rear-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive is available for any model and engine combination.
Performance
The extra power under the hood of the F-250 means it can tow up to 35,000 pounds when equipped. All three engines now have an electronically controlled transmission and selectable drive modes so drivers can choose from tow/haul, slippery, eco, and deep sand and snow.
Interior
The F-250's spacious cabin offers seating for up to six depending on the configuration. The most significant changes for the 2020 model come in the Limited model, which received ash and brushed aluminum trim elements along with a simulated suede headliner and new colors for the leather upholstery.
All the F-250 models now come standard with 4G LTE Wi-Fi with connections for 10 devices. Type C USB charging ports are also available depending on the trim level, and wireless charging is also an available option. Starting with the XLT, an 8-inch touch-screen display comes standard along with the SYNC 3 infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
Safety Features
A rearview camera comes standard in the F-250. Even the base offers the option for advanced driver aids such as forward collision warning, automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot warning. Ford's Pro Trailer Backup Assist system is also available. It uses several different cameras and a steering knob instead of the wheel to help the driver back up with a trailer.
