2020 Ford F-150 in Georgetown, TX
The Ford F-150 is one of the best all-around trucks on the market. It can be almost anything for any driver, whether they need a basic work truck or a luxury hauler for the whole family. The 2020 model has a few changes, including some new appearance packages for some trims, and the 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot is now standard across the board. More advanced driver aids are now standard on the Lariat and above, and others are now standard on the Limited. Here is a look at the 2020 Ford F-150.
Trim Levels
The F-150 lineup starts with the XL. This work truck has the basics, including 17-inch steel wheels, and pre-wired trailer connections. The XLT adds chrome trim elements, alloy wheels, fog lights, and a power-locking tailgate, while the Lariat comes with power-folding side mirrors, 18-inch alloy wheels, and LED lighting in the bed. The King Ranch has LED headlight, LED taillights, and a remote tailgate release, and if you bump up to the Platinum, you'll get power-deployable running boards and 20-inch alloy wheels.
The Limited comes with 22-inch wheels, dual exhaust tips, and several interior upgrades. The off-road capable Raptor has all the goodies you need to for rough terrain, including an increased ride height, 35-inch all-terrain tires, skid plates, tow hooks, and LED grille lights.
Engine
The base engine for the F-150 is a 3.3-liter V-6 that generates 290 horsepower and works with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The rest of the engines in the 2020 F-150 lineup get a 10-speed automatic and include the 2.7-liter turbo EcoBoost V-6 with 325 horsepower and the 3.5-liter turbo with 375 horsepower. The latter will produce 450 horsepower for the Limited and Raptor. A 395 horsepower 5.0-liter V-8 is also an option and generates 400 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
Rear-wheel drive comes standard in all models except the Raptor, which comes with four-wheel drive, and you can opt for the four-wheel drive in any of the other F-150's. When equipped, it can tow up to 11.6000 pounds with the 5.0-liter, but if you have the base engine, it can still handle up to 7,700 pounds.
Interior
The F-150 can fit from three to six people depending on the cab. Starting in the XLT, the SYNC 3 infotainment system comes standard, which includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with a Wi-Fi hot spot, and a USB port. An 8-inch touch screen comes in the Lariat, and this trim also adds satellite radio. Moving up through the higher-end trims also gets you a 110-volt power outlet, navigation, and an upgraded Bang & Olufsen stereo system.
Safety Features
All F-150 models have a rearview camera, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, emergency braking, and automatic high beam headlights. Addition safety features available depending on the trim include a blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross-path detection, adaptive cruise control, driver drowsiness monitoring, and an active park assist system. You can also have Ford's MyKey system if you want the ability to set limits for secondary drivers.
