2020 Ford Expedition in Georgetown, TX
The massive Ford Expedition has space for a large family and all of their gear no matter where they are headed. It is one of the few SUVs with a truck-based design, which means it is rugged and has excellent towing capacity. The 2020 model has just a few changes, including the addition of a power-reclining function for the third-row seats. All trims except the base now come with smart-charging USB ports in the third row. Here is a look at the 2020 Ford Expedition.
Trim Levels
The Expedition comes in the regular version and the extended Expedition Max. There are four different trim levels that start with the XLT. This trim has 18-inch alloy wheels, a roof rack, fog lights, and heated, power-folding side door mirrors. The Limited adds 20-inch wheels and LED taillights, along with a foot-activated power-adjustable lift gate and power-deployable running boards. The King Ranch trim comes with 22-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and taillights, and a panoramic sunroof. The Platinum model gets an automatic suspension, and it also has some added comfort features in the cabin.
Engine
The Expedition models come with a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 engine that gets 375 horsepower in all models except the Platinum, with an engine that generates 400 horsepower. A 10-speed automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive comes as standard equipment, and an all-wheel drive is an available option.
Performance
When equipped with the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, the Expedition can tow up to 9,300 pounds. This is more than any other SUV in this class. One of the best things about driving the Expedition is that it doesn't feel like you are behind the wheel of an enormous vehicle. It has a responsive steering system and will stay firmly planted when going around corners.
Interior
The Expedition can fit eight people, or seven if you opt for the second-row captain's chairs. It has plenty of space in all three rows, including the third row, which is often cramped in other SUVs. In the back, there are an impressive 20.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, and this can open up to 104.6 cubic feet with both rear rows folded down.
All models come with the SYNC 3 infotainment system, an 8-inch touch-screen display, and both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Every level also comes with satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, four USB ports, and a voice recognition system. The higher-end trims offer navigation, a wireless charging pad, HD radio, and a 12-speaker stereo system.
Safety Features
The 2020 Expedition comes standard with Ford's CoPilot360 suite of advanced driver aids. This suite comes with automatic high beams, a lane departure warning system, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. It also includes pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, and automatic braking. All Expeditions also come with rear parking sensors, MyKey, and a rearview camera. Depending on the trim, some optional safety features include stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, front parking sensors, and a surround-view parking camera.
